Hello, I just upgraded to QB 2020 Desktop. I have tried create a new company file but I get the notice 'You need to download the latest File Doctor'
I have gone ahead and completed the download but on trying to create the new company file again, still get the notice saying I need to download File Doctor.
Any way around this?
Hello DCFH,
It's great to hear from you and I'm excited that you've upgraded to QuickBooks Desktop 2020. I want to make sure you get this taken care of so you can get started in the new software. I have a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
The first thing to consider if how you're trying to create a company file. For instance, if you're trying to create a new company file from an existing one and getting this error, it's a good idea to start with running the File Doctor on the company file you're trying to clone from. Learn more about that here: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor
If it's a brand new company file that's not being copied from anything giving you this error or the File Doctor didn't resolve the issue with the above, there are a couple of things I'd like you to try. Start with running the repair tool for QuickBooks Desktop. This tool helps with working out errors such as this and you can see the steps here: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows
In the event that doesn't work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling QuickBooks Desktop. It sounds like you've got the process for installing down pat, but in case you need it, here's our article: Install QuickBooks Desktop
There are other steps that we can try if you're still having trouble after each of these. They're best to go over with an agent walking you through, so I encourage you to reach out to our phone support team. You can find contact details in the following article: Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies
We'll help you get back on track! Have a great rest of your day!

I simply trying to fix my files with a QB doctor. However it asks me for some Admin name and password which looks as mysterious! I entered my Intuit QB account name and password and it doesn't accept it.
What Admin name and password I'd need to enter?
Hello Assedo1,
Great question! I want to make sure you're able to fix your files with File Doctor and am happy to go over this with you.
Depending on where you're seeing that message pop up, it could be looking for a couple of different things. I suspect you're seeing the message about the admin name and password in the QuickBooks Desktop software on your company file. If that's the case, the program is looking for the admin name and password that was set up for the company file. This is likely different from the Intuit login information that you'd use for accessing information online. This article goes over user access: QuickBooks Desktop Users and Restrictions
If for whatever reason it's a Windows prompt, you'll want to enter the admin credentials for the computer you're using.
To get a hand with this, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Desktop support team. This article goes over all the important details of getting in touch with that team: Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies
Have a great weekend!
