Hi vukson-gmail-com,
Welcome to the Community! I love that you're working with the option to set up employees in QuickBooks Online. Whether you're using the Payroll module or just the employee page without setting up payroll, the employee setup does include a field for you to enter the SIN for your employee. I want to make sure this field is working correctly for you and am here to help you get back on track.
I'd like to start off by troubleshooting the error you're receiving to determine if it's a browser-related issue. Clearing cache and cookies is a great way to clean your browser allowing it to work more efficiently. Here's an article that shows you how to do that: Clear cache and cookies.
The second thing you'll want to do is confirm with your employee that the information they've given you is correct. QuickBooks Online is designed to recognize if a SIN isn't correct and will give you errors if it's not. If you've already checked with your employee and are certain the number given is correct, the format may be playing a role in whether the system accepts it. QuickBooks Online Payroll handles SINs in the following format: XXX-XXX-XXX. Please ensure you're including the dashes while working with this area.
If you're still having issues entering the SIN while setting up your employee, I invite you to contact the QuickBooks Online support team outside of this community forum. Doing so will give us the opportunity to work with you one-on-one, collect the details we need to troubleshoot, and get you back on track. Here are the ways to reach us.
Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

You can also check the Get help with QuickBooks products and services article for the support hours.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm happy to help.
