I need to file for 2012?

Hi there tylerbon911,

Thanks so much for choosing QuickBooks Self-Employed for your business! This version of QuickBooks provides an easy-to-use platform to help you track your self-employed expenses and income to make sure you have the information you need for your remittances to the government. I'll guide you through how you can handle this situation of needing to file for 2012.

QuickBooks Self-Employed can display data for you based on the information entered into the software. While it is possible to enter information for a wide date range, if you're only just entering the details for years passed into the program now, you'll want to keep things like sales tax in mind. QuickBooks' sales tax module works with the most recent sales tax calculations, so entering details now for transactions from several years ago may skew your numbers. I recommend checking in with an accountant for best practices in this situation and they may even be able to help you file.

If you've already got the data in the program as you'd like, you can use it to file outside of the program. QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't have a built-in filing option, but gives you calculations you can have confidence in to do so via the government-provided options.

For specific concerns about the data entered into QuickBooks Self-Employed, I recommend getting in touch with our dedicated support team outside of Community. that way, you can have a one-on-one conversation to get back on track. Here's how to reach out.

  1. Select the Assistant feature.
  2. Type and enter "talk to human."
  3. Follow the prompts to begin the chat with an agent.

Wishing you the best with this!
