How can we print the T4s with new requirements as CRA for 2020.
Hi jaladi,
Tax season is upon us, and it makes complete sense that the new T4 fields are on your mind when working with your T4s in QuickBooks Desktop. I'd be happy to go over this with you so that you can make sure you have the information you need to move forward with printing and filing your T4s.
At QuickBooks, we knew that including boxes 57-60 would be essential to handling T4s in the program this year, and I'm happy to share that those fields are included on T4s without you haven't to take any extra steps. Right now, filling them out calls for manually editing the fields you need, which you can do by following the steps here: How to edit COVID-related boxes on the T4 slip Our team is also working on an update for early February that would have those fields auto-populate with the data from your pay runs.
Boxes 57 thru 60 add to the Other Information section on a T4, which gives you the opportunity to include additional fields like these that apply to your employee. If your employee doesn't have any data for one of the periods outlined by a field, the field won't print. You can learn more about that section of T4s from this article on the CRA website: Filling out the T4 slip
If you're running into a situation where you have more than six codes in the Other Information section, there's a special approach you can take to printing the T4s. There's a great in-product article that I'd like to point you to. Here's how to find it.
That should get you on your way, but feel free to reply here if you have further questions. I've got your back. :)
I have Release 4 QB 2021 and I do not see populated fields 57-60.
Why?
On one of the client files (R10 QB 2020) I do see those fields populated.
On another one -the same version - I do not see it.
Is "early February update" already out?
Does it affect T4Sum 2020 E-filing results?
Can you help, please ?

hi there @bpilin and thanks for joining us in the Community and seeking support on this thread. The update that included the autofill feature for the COVID-related T4 boxes was released, however we received reports of issues with the feature so we turned it off and have our engineers working on it again to ensure that it works as expected. We hope to have this fixed as quickly as possible, and will keep you updated by email. You can always check back in the Community for updates as well as there are a few threads on this topic that are fairly active. In the meantime, you're welcome to continue following the steps as outlined in the following article in order to manually fill the boxes: How to edit COVID-related boxes on the T4 slip. Take care and reach out any time you have QuickBooks-related questions!
Can you clarify the accuracy of T4 SUM as a result of the non populated fields 57-60?
Are Summary files still correct or not?
It is very important to know as it may require re-Submission of T4Sum to CRA.
Thank you.
Boris
Hi Boris. Glad to hear back from you again. You can use the values on your T4 summaries for reference. The information on the form is correct unless there's something you'd like to double-check with? Feel free to ask questions.
