How do I add a second job to track my expenses?

Thanks for choosing QuickBooks Self-Employed to track your income and expenses for the work you're doing! This simplified version of the QuickBooks software is great for entering your invoices with customers and keeping track of what you're spending so that you can have confidence while working with your information at tax time. I'll touch on how the program handles these kinds of details so you can decide how you want to move forward.

 

As I mentioned, QuickBooks Self-Employed is a simplified version of the program. While you can enter your income and expenses into the software, the program doesn't have the capacity to organize these details into jobs to organize your data. One thing you can consider is using the Tags option in the QuickBooks Self-Employed Transactions area to organize your data, which you can then filter in the bank feed or reports later. You can create and add Tags to your bank feed transactions from that page with just a few clicks.

 

Another option you can consider is switching from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online to take advantage of the Projects feature in the Plus package. With this feature, you can organize the work you're doing for your customers and track their invoices and sales receipts as well as your expenses and bills for the job. If you'd like to take a look at QuickBooks Online before making the switch to see if its a good fit for you, give the QuickBooks Online Test Drive account a shot. The test account is a Plus level account with dummy information so you can play around with the features.
