How do I Classify Installment Payments for Business Assets

Hello! I purchased various business assets with a loan and installment payments from Affirm.com

My question is: How do I write that off as a Business Asset when I have partial payments? On the asset section, they're showing as separate transactions. Is that right?

Thanks in advance!

How do I Classify Installment Payments for Business Assets

Hi there nelsonglz,

It looks to me like you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed to manage your business' books. QuickBooks Self-Employed is a fantastic program if you're looking to track your business profit, claim mileage for trips you take, and more. I want to point you in the right direction so you can get the support you need on this.

QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't include the ability to set up assets. You can add or import transactions which represent your income and expenses, but for more tracking the value and depreciation of an asset, I recommend consulting with your accountant or considering an upgrade to QuickBooks Online. If you're not working with an accountant just yet, you can connect with one of our QuickBooks-certified accountants who'd be happy to support you and assist you with this. Here's how you can Find an Accountant.

Not only can you easily Set up an asset account in QuickBooks Online, but you'll be able to manually track the depreciation of those assets. It may just make sense for you to make the switch if these features are crucial for your business. Check out how you can Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online and take a look at our Plans and Pricing for more information on which version is the best fit.

If you'd like to see increased capabilities within QuickBooks Self-Employed, I want to encourage you to submit feedback.
