Hey Strudel,
Thanks for coming back with more information on the issue you are having. Great job following following the steps to set up the template. Since that wasn't able to fix the issue you were having, then it may be due to data damage which we have plenty of steps and tools to help fix.
Going through a process called verify and rebuild is the best way to find and correct data issues.
Verify should be run first by following these steps.
1. Go to the File menu. Then hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.
2. Let the tool check your file for data issues.
3. From the Verify Results screen, select Expand All to see the errors.
Once verify finishes, follow up with running rebuild with these steps.
1. Go to the File menu, then hover over Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
2. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
3. Let the tool repair your file. It may take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
4. When the tool finishes, select OK.
5.Go to the File menu. Then hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.
Run rebuild a few times until it comes back saying no errors found. If the issue still continues after rebuilding data, follow the steps in this article to troubleshoot data damage further.
Should the issue persist after following all the steps in this article, I suggest reaching out to our support team for further troubleshooting.
Have yourself a great day
