Migrated Desktop Pro 2019 to QB Online. Migration appears to have run fine. We started using QB Desktop July 2013. No payments by clients migrated over. Over 19,400 cash receipts did not migrate and we entered them as payments through A/R. QB support says this is a limitation of the migration and the fix is to manually apply cash receipts. There has to be a better solution, otherwise we have to pass on QB Online.
I have changed a setting to automatically apply payments but nothing has changed in our records. I cannot imagine this is a situation that QB would allow to persist nor do I think I am the first one to encounter this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi scott-bernstein,
Welcome to Community! It's great to hear that you've chosen to migrate your data from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. I'd be happy to assist!
It's important to check your targets and follow all preliminary steps prior to converting your data. If your total targets exceeds the limitation, you'd need to send your file to our Data Migration Team for assistance with the conversion. Some lists and reports won't convert due to differences in product features and any item receipts will be converted as bills. With regards to your settings, to automatically apply payments, it'll only apply to new transactions and won't record on historical ones. Therefore, you'd need to manually enter the payments. Hi Trish,
Thanks for the quick reply but this was not helpful. It appears cash receipts not migrating over is a known but unresolved issue. It is just too big an issue to resolve manually. I looked at the Data Migration Team link but it points to doing the migration ourselves, which I did with the assistance of support. If there is no other solution than to manually enter over 19,400 cash receipts spanning over 8 years, QB Online is not the solution for us. It seems so out of logical thinking that this issue still exists and that manual entry is the best Intuit can do. I cannot be the first one to have so many cash receipts that did not migrate over.
Scott
