Migration from QBDT to QBO

We are a small company that presently uses QBDT Premier Manufacturing and Wholesale Edition 2021.

Our subscription expires next year and it has been recommended to us to switch to QBO.  We have been told it is completely different from what we presently use, thus making this a very scary endeavor.  I have read up on the migration process and what is transferred and what is not and thus would have to be manually entered.  Just reaching out to see if anyone has recently switched from QBDT to QBO and the pros and cons you encountered.  Would greatly appreciate replies, both good and bad.  Thank you.

Migration from QBDT to QBO

Hello Sherry,

It's great to have you connect with us in the Community. I'll be happy to share more info about switching from QuickBooks Desktop to Online.

QuickBooks offers a free option that allows you to manually migrate some of your data from QBDT to QBO. However, there are third-party data migration apps that offer an automatic migration option for your data. You can search for these apps on our app store www.desktop.apps.com. I encourage you to check out the following article that shows you how to: Migrate from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online with Intuit's internal tool. The article also highlights the differences and what to expect when migrating your data.

Let me know if you have other questions as you go through the article. I'll be one message away in case you need anything else.

Migration from QBDT to QBO

Why don't you keep using QB Desktop? You can purchase QB Desktop 2024 to upgrade your version.

QB Online doesn't provide the assembly feature. You will need to have a 3rd party manufacturing app to integrate with QBO.
