I have just gone to do my payroll liabilites. When I pull up for the month of March, it is blank. However when I pull up the PD7A report it is showing. I have gotten the attached messages when trying to do the liabilites.
Hello Mary53, you can run QuickBooks as Administrator. Running the application with administrative privileges can often bypass permission restrictions that prevent updates or file access.
Open the Windows Start menu. Type in "QuickBooks" into the search tab. Right-click on the QuickBooks version and year you wish to open from the results. Select Run as administrator. Run the payroll update. After completing the update, close QuickBooks and reopen it normally, without using administrator privileges.
If running QuickBooks as an administrator does not resolve the issue, you need to manually adjust the security permissions for the QuickBooks program file. For more information, please refer to Step 2 highlighted in this article: Fix "File you specified cannot be opened" or "File exists" errors.
Although the article above is written for the US region, the steps can also be applicable in your region.

I have been having trouble getting payroll updates and downloading a new quick books desktop 2024 update
Finally I did get it. Ever since i got the update and the payroll updates the payroll liabilities show nothing. However when I check employees the payroll does show up there and it does show up in the PD7A
Hello there, Mary. Since your records and PD7A summary are showing the data, I suggest a quick screen-sharing session with our Live Support team to have this further reviewed.
Just head to the Help menu > QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us, and select Contact Us. Choose the Callback option. You can find our support hours here in this article: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.
Please let us know if you need anything, have any follow-up questions, or have any other concerns.
I will contact live support, thanks, but in the meantime i need to post payments for payroll remittance and since I can not, my banking statements will not reconcile
Thank you for the update, Mary. We can manually record the liability payments to ensure your bank register matches your statement and to clear the outstanding liability balance.
To do this, use the Pay Liabilities feature under the Employees menu. If you are unable to post these payments, verify that your bank account is fully connected and verified for payroll services, and check for any errors or pending payroll submissions that may be blocking the process.
Once the payments are recorded, match them with your bank transactions to complete the reconciliation.
If issues persist, I suggest reaching out to your accountant for guidance to ensure your books are accurately balanced.
We will keep this thread open in case you need further assistance.
