Hello, I am using Quickbooks desktop Pro, I often use the quick report feature as it is quiet helpful. However one key feature I am not able to capture in this report Memo field from the Make Deposit form. There 2 Memo Fields on the Deposit form, Memo Field#1 is listed on the header beside the date field and Memo Field#2 is in the body of the deposit form. The quick report only picks up Memo Field#2 and we are interested both fields as they hold critical information. In order t get the details of Memo Field#1 we would have to click on the transaction which would open up the deposit form and we can view the the data for Memo Field#1. This can be time consuming if you have many transactions listed on the Quick Report. As work around what we have been doing is manually entering the data from Memo Field#1 into Memo Field#2, this is creating more work for us. See my attached sample copies of the Deposit Form and Quick Report that provides the details of my issue. In my example, we enter the deposit batch# in Memo Field#1 and we would like for this field to be able on the quick report instead of duplicating our efforts to enter the data into Memo field#2
I would really appreciate your assistance in solving this issue for me.
Hello again smacanada,
Thanks for sharing the screenshots with the examples of what you're looking to do in your books with the Deposit screen's memo fields and the Account Quick Report. With the examples, I can see how useful those fields are to you in organizing your data. I'll go over the options with you.
It sounds like you've already familiarized yourself with the report customization options for QuickBooks Desktop, which is good for tailoring how you'd like to view your data. It's great that you've been able to develop a workaround for your books. At this time, the Account Quick Report cannot be customized to show both memo fields, but I have another report that you can consider using alongside it to help.
The Deposit Detail report shows a breakdown of the transactions made in the deposit screen and allows you to see both memo fields. Here's a screenshot of a test I did in a company file.
With the information on this report, you could compare the details against what you've got in the Account Quick Report to see both memo options. I know this is still an extra step to take, but it's another option to consider to cut down on the work that has to be done.
If that's still not quite working for you, consider leaving us feedback via the Help menu in QuickBooks Desktop. Just choose Send Feedback Online to forward it to our product development team.
I see you've made a few posts in the US QuickBooks Community as well, so I'd like to highlight that what I've outlined above is for the Canadian version of the software. The US edition may have separate features and options, so if that's what you're using, feel free to click where I linked the US Community and ask your question there.
I hope this helps and that you have a great weekend!
Hello Laura, Thank you for a quick reply.
I am aware of the deposit report, however this does not meet our requirement as this report only identifies Deposits where the quick report contains all transaction associated to the account this includes deposits and cheques.
I hear what you're saying and I'd like to clarify my suggestion. In this case, you'd want to use both the Account Quick Report and the Deposit Detail report together in order to get a sense of your transactions. You can have each report open side by side to review the data when needed. The Deposit Detail report wouldn't be replacing the Account Quick Report in this instance, but rather used to supplement for the information you're not seeing in the Account Quick Report, which in this case is the memo field. Let me know if you still have questions about that.
I am aware of this but this duplicates my effort. I am looking for this feature on one report (quick report) instead of looking at 2 reports. I guess this features is not available and there are no plans to include this field in future development.
Gotcha. We're always looking for new ways to enhance the software to provide business owners and bookkeepers with the tools to help manage their books more easily. Using the feedback option I mentioned lets us know the kinds of things you're looking for when using QuickBooks Desktop and the product development teams takes each of these into consideration. Many of the features that are available in QuickBooks Desktop today are because of feedback we've received, so I encourage you to consider that option to help us with that future development.
I'll be here if you need anything else.
