can i add a contract value to a project to see the performance of the project

There isn’t a specific field labeled Contract Value within the Projects feature, but you can use an Estimate to represent your contract value within a project. Once the estimate is created and linked to the project, QuickBooks will help you track the project’s financial performance as it progresses.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to the + New button on the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Estimate from the options.
  3. In the Customer dropdown, choose the Customer associated with the project.
  4. In the Customer/Project field, select the appropriate Project from the dropdown.
  5. Add the agreed contract value to the estimate by entering the line items or total dollar amount that corresponds to the scope of the agreement.
  6. Click Save and close or Save and send, depending on whether you need to share the estimate with your customer.

Once saved, you can review the project's profitability and performance.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Projects menu on the left navigation bar.
  2. Select the specific project.
  3. From the project dashboard, you can review the project's profitability report to compare your income and expenses as the project progresses.
