I appreciate you taking the time to try to describe what you're seeing. Situations like this really benefit from calling the phone support team to do a screen share session. That way, an agent can see what you're seeing in real time and get a better idea of how to guide you.

 

I have a few theories about what you could mean. My first thought is that you're clicking the CHQ# heading on the reconciliation screen to sort by cheque number, which causes the window to flash as it rearranges the transactions. If that's what you're talking about and you're not seeing the cheque transaction you need, click out of the reconciliation to verify that the transaction has been entered correctly in QuickBooks. There are a number of ways you can track down the transaction. Here are a few: use the Write Cheques feature and click the Previous button to find the one you need, go to the Vendor Centre and click the vendor in question to see if the cheque is in the transactions, or use the Find tool (shortcut CTRL + F) to search for transactions.

 

My second thought is that you're double-clicking the cheque from the transaction window, expecting it to open so you can verify the details, but it doesn't open. If that's the case, I'd like you to start by checking your file for data damage. When you do this, the process will let you know if there is damage and steps you can take to resolve it.
