Why does QB Desktop use the payroll check date rather than the range on the Payroll Summary?

 

Secondly, my net pay in Quickbooks is not the same as the net pay when I pay with Telepay. I understand that there are a few fees with Telepay but not this much.

 

Also if I use the payday, I get the # of employees paid correct, but if I use the pay period, the # of employees is wrong, any guess why?  No additional employees have been added. Where is this field drawing from?

It's vital that all your payroll information is entered correctly in the system so that all your payroll totals can be accurate. QuickBooks Desktop is a great tool able to help you calculate payroll so you know the number of deductions and contributions to be paid to the government. The reason the pay date is shown in the payroll reports is that this is the day the money movement takes place and this transaction affects your books. For assistance with your pay calculation as well as the employees shown when running payroll, I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Desktop support team outside the Community. They'll be able to view your software setup as well as these pay runs with you in order to make sure they are being calculated correctly.
