Export QBDT to QBO: Error

Our controller is trying to export a company from QBDT to QBO and keeps seeing the error in the subject line. She has tried several time running Rebuild Data and Verify Data utilities to no avail. She continues to get the "Export QBDT to QBO: Error".

QBDT is 2017.

Any suggestions?

Export QBDT to QBO: Error

Hello tomwolfe,

Dealing with error messages can be a time-consuming process but don't worry, I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so you can migrate your data to the cloud and enjoy the flexibility that QBO offers.

Based on what you've described, I see you've done some troubleshooting on your end and I appreciate you letting me know what you've done so far. In order to get past the error message, could I have you copy your company file to your C:\ Drive on your computer? Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop, press F2 on your keyboard.
  2. Copy the Location of your File Information
  3. Close your QuickBooks Desktop (Alt + F4).
  4. Go to your C:\ drive in your Windows and add the file in there.
  5. Open your QuickBooks Desktop again. Go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
  6. Open the saved file from the new location and try to export the file again.

Give this a try and let me know what happens. Here's a helpful article with more info on what you can do to fix migration errors. I'll be a message away in case you need anything else.

Export QBDT to QBO: Error

The issue was that our QBDT was 2017 and too old. So, we downloaded a trial version of the latest desktop and imported the backup from 2017 DT. We were then able to export to QBO, no problem.

Thanks and hope this helps others. :D
