Hi, RTBrew
You can always override the HST amount calculated by the QB Online
move to the HST field below the subtotal enter the HST amount you want.
Note: You can use the field as a calculator for example 1000*13% and hit the Tab key.
Feel free to contact me for any clarifications.
Hello RTBrew,
It looks like you're hard at work in QuickBooks Online this week, and I'm delighted to see that this Community forum is turning out to be a great resource for you! Sales tax calculations are just as important as any other calculations in your books, so I'd like to make sure that your HST tax code is working correctly in the program. I'm here to help.
When you set up a default provincial or territorial sales tax code in QuickBooks Online, the program is designed to know what the percentage needs to be and to make the calculations with accuracy. Rounding differences can occur as a part of the way QuickBooks calculates sales tax, which is line by line rather than on the subtotal, but this is usually just a few cents difference. You can learn more about it here: Why do I occasionally notice penny rounding differences? Although this article mentions payroll, these differences also apply to sales tax calculations.
If what you're seeing is more than a few pennies difference, it could be there's something else going on with the calculation. What Rajanikanth mentions of manually changing the amount in the sales tax field in the subtotal is a direction you're welcome to go to correct the sales tax if you'd like. However, if what you're seeing can't be attributed to a rounding difference, I recommend connecting with the QuickBooks Online support team so that we can take a closer look and determine if there's a more permanent solution available.
There are a few different ways you can connect with support. Choose from the options below.
Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
