How to change/switch display language in Quickbooks Desktop? From English to French.

I've held off upgrading QB because of the language...

My last version used was the 2006, and it took for my computer to die for me to upgrade all software...

That 2006 was wonderful to use. I don't understand why a French version hasn't been offered since...

Last night, I was tidying up a little, and finally got through that box that was there to sort - and I found some paperwork I had produced in '99, with - yes, there you have it: QB!! I was giggling all by myself, and figured I am a veteran... *mind blown*

I'll definitely use that feedback feature, as I feel it is important to let the developers know our needs, and that in Quebec, we are more French than English  (80% use French). Yes, we adapt - and have no choice sometimes - but it can get confusing, especially when under the gun, or overtired. Bookkeeping mistakes can be costly...

Plus, I really don't understand why this has been overlooked: QB is more user-friendly and would benefit so many small French-speaking businesses! At least one version was made - so why stop?

Lastly, I am a bit irked that the Desktop version seems to be left aside on Intuit's website. There is very little info about it, and it seems we are always landing on stuff about the Online version. Personnally, I am still uneasy about letting go of my financial info to the cloud. Also, if I am in a remote area, without WiFi (Our province is vast, and the Internet is not everywhere yet), I would not be able to catch-up on accounting (yes, I do that... lol)

All right, please take it as a positive feedback, as I did consider going with SAGE, and just _could_ not ;-)

I love that you're sticking with us, Sylvie. I know the cloud platform isn't right for everyone, so I can appreciate your apprehension about moving to it. Québec certainly is a large and beautiful province. I had the opportunity to visit Québec City when I was younger, and I look back on that trip fondly. I see what you're saying about how certain areas would have the kind of internet connection you need to rely on when it comes to navigating the online sphere.

I'd just like to add that I know Fiat Lux has a wealth of knowledge to share, but in this case QuickBooks Desktop is English only. I assure you that if there were a way to switch the language, I'd be sharing that with you. Like you mention, it's always easiest to work in your preferred language, so if there were a way to do it, I'd let you know right away.

I definitely take your feedback as positive commentary. I can clearly see that you're eager to help QuickBooks grow and thrive, especially the Desktop platform. One of the best ways to learn more about what QuickBooks has to offer for Desktop is to scroll to the bottom of the QuickBooks Canada website where all of the products are listed. Then you simply click the one you want to look at and you'll be taken to the page. Don't be afraid to give us a shout if you ever need help finding anything though. :)

For Quickbooks desktop 2020, I don't mind menu in english.  How about for  the name of customer, vendor, description field in sales invoice and receipt?  Sometimes, our customer only give the Chinese Name.

Thanks for joining in on this thread @waikei0612. QuickBooks Desktop only supports English as you know. If you enter the names of your vendors or customers using different characters, QuickBooks won't recognize it and will change it to question marks. I know how helpful this feature would be, so I want to encourage you to submit feedback. Navigate to the Help menu, then select Submit Feedback Online. Your suggestions go a long way in helping to improve QuickBooks.
