Hi there,
Running your business with QuickBooks Online is the best way to save time and effort with your bookkeeping tasks. QBO offers awesome automation features to help make your life easier, and you have the option to enable/disable them as you see fit. If you're noticing that your QBO account is giving your promptings for your expenses, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction to turn that off.
Without further details it's difficult to know exactly which setting is prompting you to add expenses. Don't worry though, there's one central area of the account where you can go to customize your settings.
All you have to do is click the Gear icon > Account and Settings. From there, explore the settings under the Expenses tab. If the pop-up you're seeing isn't related to any of the terms listed there, click the Advanced tab. Here you'll see a section for Automation. This is likely where the setting is displayed. If you have certain settings turned on and you'd like to disable them, click the small pencil icon on the right hand side to enable editing.
For more information about your advanced settings in the account, check out this helpful Community article: How do I set my advanced account settings?
If none of the automation settings have been turned on, you may be noticing pop-ups as part of the usual QBO workflow. If new features or tools are added to the program, these pop-ups can help you learn how to use them. If you're new to QBO, this may also be part of the onboarding experience. I'd suggest exploring your browser settings regarding pop-ups and disable them that way.
You can also submit your feedback about this to our product development team. To do that, click the Gear icon and select the Feedback option. We appreciate our customers' thoughts and ideas for improving the product.
I hope this helps.

Have a great day.
I'm having the same issue! It's extremely annoying. Pop ups are supposed to permanently go away after either going through the tutorial or pressing the X on the window. This one continues to pop up every single time I go the expenses window no matter how many times I X out of it.
The answer given by Quickbooks so far was not helpful and did not solve this issue by the way.
Hi dboyll. I can certainly appreciate wanting those pop-ups to disappear after pressing the 'X' or moving through the tutorial workflow in your account. If that doesn't stop the pop-ups from appearing, you may want to clear the cache and cookies in your browser. These stored Internet files can build up over time and cause bugs in QBO and other sites. Here's how to clear them: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.
Alternatively, try using a private browser in Google Chrome. Here's how: Browse in Private.
That should help stop the pop-ups from persisting. If you're having any further issues, our tech support team is here to help.
