My postal code keeps saying it is invalid but it is correct. How do I fix this to add my address?

Hi there tempestsolutions,

Thanks for reaching out about entering your address. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of sales and expenses so that your books can be accurate. I can provide some information about entering an address.

When entering an address, if you get an error that the postal code doesn't match the address. The first step to try would be to copy and paste the address directly out of the Find a postal code toll on the Canada Post website. if the error persists, then the second step recommended would be to do the same with how the address shows up on Google Maps. Sometimes subtle differences in the spelling, capitalization and abbreviations can cause the error matching the address to the postal code.

If you need any further assistance or have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.

@tempestsolutions

If your company is located in CA, make sure you have QBO CA version, not US version.

My postal code keeps saying it is invalid but it is correct. How do I fix this to add my address?

Hi there,

I'm also having this issue and have followed the instructions above and keep getting the same error. It'd be nice if QBO had the autofill directly from Canada Post if it has this odd requirement that doesn't seem to work. Any additional assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi pampamarca1,

Thanks for joining us here.  When it comes to your Company address and Billing information, you'll want to make sure to enter the address in QuickBooks exactly as it appears on your payment method.  You'll also want to make sure there are no special characters or symbols (such as @ or *) in your billing address.  Special characters will cause errors.  In addition, make sure every field on the payment method screen is filled in, including the Postal code.

If the issue persists, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care team at 1-855-253-1536 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 AM and 8 PM EST. They'll have the ability to work with you in real-time and ensure you're able to accomplish your QuickBooks goals as soon as possible!

Should you have other questions or concerns, feel free to touch base with us again.  We are here to help!

Thank you for your post, @Nashhh. I'm here to help you verify the correct postal code for setting up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

First, it's important to note that QuickBooks Online (QBO) recognizes postal code formats based on the specific region of the QBO you're using.

To resolve the invalid postal code error, ensure the correct format for your location and QBO region.

If you've confirmed that you have the correct postal code and it is still invalid, I recommend performing some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Sometimes, numerous cached files can cause the browser to behave unexpectedly.

Let's start by accessing your account through an incognito window to eliminate webpage-related issues. You can refer to these shortcut keys to open an incognito window in all supported browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you've launched a new private browsing session, access your QBO account and check if you can set up your account successfully.

If it works, proceed to clear your browser's cache. This process will resolve the issue and help the program run smoothly. You can also use other devices and supported browsers as alternatives.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Support team for further troubleshooting. The team has specific tools to access your account and investigate why the system can't recognize your zip code. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Help menu and select the Search tab.
  2. From there, click Contact Us.
  3. Next, enter a brief description of your concern. Example: My postal code is invalid.
  4. Then, click Continue.
  5. Choose either Chat or Callback.

Furthermore, I've included an article that guides you in changing your company settings in QBO: Edit company settings in QuickBooks Online.

I'm always available and ready to lend a hand if you have further concerns or inquiries when setting up your account in QBO. Just leave a reply below, and I'll help you.
