I've started my 2023 taxes. When I try to pull a QuickBooks file for a rental condo (Business Income and Expenses), Turbotax quickly says, "No QuickBooks Desktop file has been found." This is even when the file is concurrently open in QuickBooks. This is an import that has been successful in past years. Turbotax is 2023 Home & Business. QB is 2021 Desktop.

Try using the trial version of QBD 2023 or 2024 to upgrade your file and export it to TurboTax 2023.
I am running the same version of QB Desktop (2021). I don't want to upgrade to the 2024 version at this time but have the exact same issue that Turbo Tax can't find QuickBooks.
Turbo Tax says: "To import data from QuickBooks, you must have QuickBooks 2007 through 2024", so I can't understand why this is happening.
Install the trial version of QBD 2024 and you don't need to run it. Run your TurboTax again and it should recognize your QB Desktop 2021 file later.

I have this exact same issue. If I install a trial version I'll be stuck in Trial mode. Not acceptable. I'm running QB 2021 with multiple customers' data at stake.
Hello Accountantof927,
In addition to the valuable information provided above, I suggest running the QuickBooks Tool Hub and run Quick Fix my program. I also recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. You don't need to open your files on the trial version. You just need to install it.
Unless you consider to use the trial version of QB Desktop Accountant to access your historical data for good.
@4Gal Actually yes, you DO get stuck in "trial mode". Thankfully I made a backup of my install files and was able to uninstall 2024 (awful) and reinstall 2021 (beautiful). I'm searching out other alternatives now. Ever since QB was bought out by a venture capital firm that knew nothing about bookkeeping and everything about pinching a dollar they've gone downhill. I both need them and hate them more every day and I'm done.

It sounds like you had a different experience than me and my clients. If you must upgrade your files in QBD 2024, you only need to use that version for TurboTax. This method also applies when you have QB Online. You'll still use your old QB Desktop or QB Online for work.
Yeah, it still ran the upgraded version when I tried to run QB 2021. QB online is a joke for those of us in rural areas. Maybe you can work today? Maybe not. The fact that they're phasing out QB Desktop shows how out of touch QB is with middle America.
Anyway, all is fixed now thanks to my backups.
Has anyone actually found a solution that doesn't leave me stuck in trial mode on 2024? Last year's import was fine.
I'd like to respond to this but I'm afraid it'll be removed by QB.
