Hi;
I am hoping someone can help. I am currently subscribed and using Self-Employed but need to change to the Online EasyStart. Here is my dilemma; when I go to purchase the subscription for Easystart and enter my email address, QB states that email address already exists and therefore cannot go further than that.
I've been on the phone with QB Canada for the last hour trying to get help. No luck so far, still on hold.
Do I need to back up my Self Employed, save my data and cancel my subscription first; then buy the Online ES service? I don't want to do anything yet until I know if that's the correct way to do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated over this Jazz music I am listening to on hold.
John.
Hello Jobworks,
Welcome to the Community! To make life easier for our customers, Intuit allows users to sign up for both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed subscriptions using the same email address. I'll explain how to do this so that you can move forward with experiencing all of the great features that QuickBooks Online has to offer.
When you go to the QuickBooks Canada website and click the Buy Now button under the QuickBooks Online Easy Start plan, you'll be brought to a screen that shows fields for entering an email and password. These fields are only used if you don't already have any subscriptions for QuickBooks Online or Self-Employed. If you enter your email address there, it'll give you the "this email already exists" prompt that you mentioned in your post.
Since you already have an existing account, you'll click on the blue Sign in hyperlink found just above the email address field where it asks Already have an account?. This will allow you to sign in with your existing credentials and continue setting up your new QuickBooks Online Easy Start subscription.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about this. I'm here to help!
As far as I know, we are only allowed to use one email address to manage one QBSE account. We can use the same email address to manage multiple QBO accounts. I would recommend opening a new QBO account with another email address, migrate the data from your QBSE account, cancel your QBSE account, then ask Support to change your email address of QBO account.

Hi @Jobworks. Fiat Lu -Asia has provided helpful info in relation to the issue you're having. I'd recommend using the Sign in option mentioned by my colleague Caitlin above. Using this option allows you to use the same email on your accounts. If you decide to change the email on the account, here's an article which shows you how: Change your email, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant, and Qui.... Feel free to ask other questions.
