Today, I have one straight question to ask . I want to change vacation rate 6% to 8% in QuickBooks online for on of the employee .If I remember accurately , few years back I had to change vacation rate and I think quick books rested the Balance to Zero. As if I have given all accrued vacation money to the employee and just to add in our company we do not pay out accrue vacation in every pay. Now, if this is correct, can you please tell me how I can increase vacation rate without influencing /changing accrued vacation balance.
Thank You
Farzana Ali
Hello Farzana,
Thanks for contacting us here. QuickBooks provides you the flexibility that allows you to manage your payroll with peace of mind. I'll be glad to share more info and help steer you along the right path.
To get started, it's important to note that changing the vacation rate will affect the current balance on the employee's profile. Since you'd like to change the rate for your employee, you can always edit the vacation accrual hours so QuickBooks reflects the correct figures. In order to adjust the vacation balance, follow the steps below:
Give this a try and let me know what happens. I'll be one message away in case you have other questions. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day.
Hello JamesM4
Appreciate your quick respond .
Here is what I am not sure it's important to note that changing the vacation rate will affect the current balance on the employee's profile- so, I want to change the vacation rate from 6 to 8 percent without affecting the current accrued balance meaning if an employee has accrued example only 600 , when I change the vacation rate should this amount will be zero ?Cause I remembered it happened one time, noticed on employees profile and vacation and sick leave report, balance became zero.
I want to keep the 600 unchanged and keep adding vacation pay based on 8% with the balance 600.
I hope it makes sense to you.
Thanks
Farzana Ali
Changing the vacation rate will affect the balance as you've experienced before. However, the steps I've provided above also show you how to edit the balance to the 600 you'd like to keep. Let me know if I'm missing something as I'd like to be on the same page as you.
Hello James
I understand that changing the vacation rate will impact the balance and you could adjust the vacation hours/$ values under employee profile. Only thing in this whole process ,I think quick books will generate an adjusting journal entry in the Financial statement , which I do not prefer . Any suggestion ?
Thanks
Farzana
