I split wages into multiple classes, and have 2 questions: can someone confirm that the company-paid taxes are split according the the class in which the wages are? And secondly, if I add any other proportional benefit-- like company-paid insurance based on wage amounts, will QB automatically assign those costs to the same class as the wage expense? Thanks.
Good evening, lawrenanne1.
I appreciate you reaching out to us here. I'd be happy to provide some information.
I recommend taking a look at how your accounting preferences may be set up. This will tell you which accounts it is being directed to. You can then go to the account history to review the splits. To check your account preference, head to the "Gear" icon and select "payroll settings", next click on the "Edit" next to accounting.
If you have any other questions feel free to reach back out.
Thanks; this does tell me that most of the transactions were assigned to the correct class, but QB has a bug which causes it to not classify company-paid taxes on accrued vacation payouts correctly. (They end up as '"unclassified" even though the original wages were classified, and this only happens with bulk vacation payouts when someone leaves, not when they're paid vacation. No idea why.) Can someone who has added wage-based company costs verify that they get classed correctly? I can always do testing (and will) but I'd like to get a sense of whether it works or not from someone who has already done it.
Thanks for reaching back out to me here, lawrenanne1.
