Hi there TPrewer,
Thanks for reaching out here. Welcome! QuickBooks Online Payroll calculates the associated taxes, so you don't have to do it manually. I'd be glad to provide some insight here!
It's essential that employee deductions and contributions are accurately set up, to ensure a positive outcome on the associated T4 slips. I suggest reviewing the information here, to see how this was set up in your books. If you've created a Bonus only cheque for your employee, you would see the option to Include retirement deductions + contributions if applicable. You can review the information by going to Payroll > Employees > Paycheque list. Locate and select it to review the Bonus details. Please refer to this guide, for creating bonus cheques. If this was created with a paper cheque and not direct deposit, you can delete the item, and re-create it, making sure you select the appropriate option to create it as Gross pay or Net pay.
If you require additional assistance, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll specialists, outside of Community.
Feel free to reach out again with other questions. We would be happy to help!
I understand the logistics of generating a NET pay Bonus, the gross is calculated to include deductions required to reach the required NET pay. (This is a great feature when you wish to give everyone the same Net Amount - however, because of personal tax rates, and CPP and EI maximums, the GROSS BONUS/Employer Taxes Paid by Employer is not the same for everyone)
I see that QB did not include these amounts to the Gross Earnings "Employee Taxes Pd by the Employer".
How do I get this amount to appear in Box 14 on the T4 and to be included on the T4 Summary, other than doing it manually?
Is there an update regarding this?
Welcome back, TPrewer.
