Hi hlenns93,
Thanks for joining Community! Moving your data can be done seamlessly, and you'll be able to select what reports and lists you'd like to transfer. With the QuickBooks Online export feature you can download the data to your hard drive. Based on the information you've provided, it seems that you've located an article based on QuickBooks U.S. I'd be happy to guide you through exporting your data from QuickBooks Online Canada!
Exporting reports includes the data from posting transactions like bills and invoices. You can also export non-posting transactions and attachments.
Follow these steps to export reports and lists:
1. Click on the Gear ⚙ icon in the top right
2. Select Export Data
3. Set the date range from the Reports tab
4. Add or remove items by toggling the slider
5. Hit Export to Excel
6. Repeat these steps when you open the Lists tab
Here's how to export additional reports:
1. From the left menu, select Reports
2. Search for the desired report and open it
3. Enter the desired Date range and any additional customized options as needed
4. Hit Run report
5. Click on the Export icon and then Export to Excel
Note: If you notice data missing when you open the report in excel, it's currently in protected view. Just hit Enable Editing to view the full report.
You can also create custom reports to get the data that isn't found in the basic reports. Once you've completed exporting your data, here's a detailed article to Import data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I have spent over 4 hours trying to import data from excel files into desktop. I have been able to enter customers and suppliers, but I find it extremely confusing to figure out how to import chart of accounts, general ledger, balance sheet, trial balance etc. I would like for my 10 years of data entry to move over to the desktop version. I don't understand the mapping, or can't get it to work. I need a visual tutorial, of which there are no options online for Canadians. Is there a reason why the Canadian version can't export the same way as the U.S. version? It seems simple enough for the Americans...
You can see our reply earlier. You have to start importing from CoA, Lists and finally Transactions.
