I notice that changes made to the data in a custom field in a Sales Receipt does not flow to the Customer Info. Are custom fields linked across the entire system under?

I have the QBO Advanced package (Top Tier).  I chose it due to having up to 12 customizable fields.  You can add them to a sales receipt but if you make a change in the sales receipt, it does not carry back to the Customer file.

Hi there,

It's great to have you join the Community. Rest assured, I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so you can get the resolution your need.

To make sure we're both on the same page, could you describe in detail the steps you're following on your end? I'd like to re-create that on my end and see at what stage you're entering the changes and they aren't carrying back to the customer file. I look forward to hearing back from you. Otherwise, in case you're having browser issues causing the you've described, I recommend clearing cache and cookies. Here's an article that shows you how to do that: How to clear cache and cookies.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be a message away.

In QBO advanced, we have set up some custom fields.  In the customer profile we have entered the info in those fields.  These fields have also be added to the sales receipt template.

An example would be if the custom field was "car color"

Example:  John C Customer  car color = blue

When you create a new sales receipt and select John as the customer... it populates the color as blue.  If the customer advises that the car color is actually red, if you change it on the sales receipt, it does not update the customer profile information.

Shouldn't the online system be more fluid to update all areas with the new data entered for the customer.

Instead, you have to go into the customer profile and update the data so the next time the correct information is reflected.

Hope that helps with the understanding.

I appreciate you elaborating as I see what you're saying. Your feedback on this is valuable and I encourage you to send feedback to our engineers by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. In the meantime, I recommend manually updating from the customer profile so the appropriate changes are applied. You're welcome to ask other questions. I've got your back.
