Can you add total project costs to projects?

Hello InstdioCommunications,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. It's good to learn you're using the Projects feature to help organize your transactions in QuickBooks. Rest assured, I'll be happy to point you in the right direction so you can continue to do the things you enjoy.

To get started, it's important to note there are two ways to add transactions to projects. You have the option to create the transaction in QuickBooks as you normally would and enter the project name in the Customer/Project ▼ dropdown. You can also follow these steps to create a new transaction from within projects:

  1. Go to Projects.
  2. Find and select the project you want to add a transaction to.
  3. From the Add to project ▼ dropdown, select the type of transaction you want to add.
  4. Enter the details for the transaction like you normally would.
  5. Select Save and close.

For more information about managing Projects in QuickBooks, please check out this article here. You're welcome to ask other questions. I'll be here to assist.

Can you add total project costs to projects?

I appreciate the quick reply.

While you can add an "Estimate" there is no tracking against it or against a Budget. Can you please advise on how to add a Total Project Cost, Budget or even an Estimate that we can track against?

I've spent time watching videos and on the phone with a Quickbooks representative and so far, no viable option to track a project against a Budget/Estimate.

Thank you.

I see. The function you've described isn't available. I can see the benefit of having this function for your business and I encourage you to send feedback about this to our engineers. You can send feedback by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. New product ideas and improvements are based on the feedback we get from users like you. I also recommend looking into third-party apps on our app store www.apps.com.

Let me know if you have other questions by leaving a comment below. I'll be a message away.
