Hi ChristinaD84,
Welcome to Community! QuickBooks Online Payroll provides the latest updates based on government guidelines. I'd be happy to provide some insight here!
As you are aware, the second additional CPP contributions (CPP2) begin in 2024. Rest assured that this will be automatically updated, so you can proceed with payroll with confidence.
For any of our QuickBooks Desktop customers who may also join in on this thread, you will notice the changes when you update your QuickBooks product to the latest release. To learn more about the maximum pensionable earnings and contributions for 2024, click here.
If you have any other questions, please reach back out. We would be glad to help!
Hello,
My QuickBooks Pro is not calculating CPP2 for an employee who has contributed the maximum for CPP1. I have verified using PDOC that CPP2 should have been deducted this last pay.
I called the Customer Support line and they were of no help. This question must be answered by someone who understands payroll - not just reading from a support book.
If someone with payroll experience could answer my question, I would be very grateful.
Fingers crossed!
Apologies, I have QuickBooks Premier - not Pro. And yes, it is up to date with updates.

Hi Trish,
Thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned in my post, I did contact the Desktop support line but they were unable to help me as they did not understand what pensionable earnings were so were telling me that the employee had not reached the maximum - when indeed they had. I asked to speak with a Payroll specialist was not given that opportunity.
