Older installed versions of QuickBooks provided a report for all Activity By Customer. This showed each customer and their yearly total to date. Is there a way to get this report in QuickBooks Online?

Hi shynanigans67,
You can pull up and customize the Transaction List by Customer report to get the yearly report you need. I'd be glad to show you how.
After doing these steps proved, you will see the reports.
If there's anything else I can help you with, feel free to stay in touch with me by adding a comment below.

on our Transactions by Customer report we need the internal factory order number which is entered at the time the invoice is raised. The order of boxes along the top of the body of the invoice is as follows:-Invoice Date,Invoice number, Internal Job number, Client's purchase order number, Term, Rep. We have not yet been able to tick a box that includes the Internal Job number. Any suggestions?
Is it possible to make a customer report in which it would itemize all purchased items into one file?
The long way of doing what I want would be to copy each item on each monthly bill and paste into an excel sheet. Ideally, I’d be able to extract all lines on all invoices or bills for a given period into one long spreadsheet. For example, if I have one client who purchases two items per month, and I wanted to make a report of all transactions, I would have 24 lines itemizing all purchases+descriptions for a given year.
Thanks
Yes, it is possible, Jussie Smollet..
QuickBooks Online has a report that consists of the purchased items of each customer. This is the Sales by Customer Detail report.
Here how to run the said report:

This report does not show up for me. Do you need to have a certain level of quickbooks on line to get this basic of a report?
Hello,
When I follow these steps, it creates the report I am looking for (I want to run a report that shows all invoices and journal entries booked by customer). However, the journal entry amounts are blank and the total for each customer is only the total of the invoices. How can I get a total for income by customer (invoice amount plus/minus any journal entries booked)? In QuickBooks Desktop the report was called "Income by Customer Detail".

Hey Audrey,
It's great that you're so familiar with other QuickBooks products. The differences between QuickBooks Online and Desktop can seem rather large, but they're both built to add convenience to your bookkeeping. The Online version makes very effective use of the basic transaction types to enhance the powerful reporting functions. This gives you full visibility over your books with detailed reports. Currently, not all reports are optimized for journal entries. Thankfully, the incredible customization options unlock all sorts of possibilities. I'm confident we'll be able to create the exact report you're looking for.
It's just a few easy steps to get all this information on a report:
A few other customization options to consider include the Customer filter and the Account column.
Let me know if this works! QuickBooks is all about helping get the perfect reports.
Im looking for the same type of customer activity report within Quickbooks 2018 Premier Desktop. I'd like to run a report against all my customers to find out who have not been invoiced (sales) in the past time frame (year) This will enable us to follow up and deactivate their accounts. It was suggested Transaction by Customer however if the customer didnt have any transactions they dont show up. How can I create this report or is there a canned one?
Good morning! We have the Premier desktop version. How do I run a customer transaction history report please? (I need to see each item a customer has purchased from us in a specific timeframe.)
Thank you!
Thank you for responding; I truly apprciate it! However, we have a DESKTOP version ~ Premier, actually. There is no a magnifying glass nor do I have the options you are recommending.
Please ~ is there a way to get this information (all items purchased by a designated customer in a designated timeframe) on the PREMIER DESKTOP VERSION?
Again, thank you!
Hi there. Our Reports feature is one of the most powerful feature offered in QuickBooks Desktop. I see you posted your question on a QuickBooks Online thread instead but, don't worry, I'll show you how to find the info you're looking for in QB Desktop. Based on what you've described, I recommend running a Transaction List by Customer report. You can find this on your Reports menu. Once you have it pulled up, follow the steps below to filter it so it shows you transactions associated with a particular customer:

Just to make sure we're on the same page, you're looking for a report which shows you only the items and their descriptions?
Good morning! I'm looking for a report that shows the items and their descriptions AS PREVIOUSLY purchased by a specific customer in a specific time frame.
We are a Lucas Oil distributor, and I get many calls from customers who want to buy "the 30 weight oil" they usually buy... and since there are about 50 different items that might fit that bill, I want to be able to look up their previous purchases to see what they've ordered (rather than having to physically pull their paper file and walk through each invoice there...) That is why I need to be able to see both the description and item #'s on the report for that customer. Right now it only shows me their invoice # or payment posting... not what I need at all...
Thank you for asking and helping!
Hi LucasOilGal,
Thanks for joining the discussion. The closest reports that match your needs would be the Sales by Customer Detail Report, and the Transaction List by Customer Report. I'll explain what those are below:
Sales by Customer Detail Report: Will show you your total sales for each customer. Includes the date, type, amount, and total.
Transaction List by Customer Report: Your transactions (income and expenses), grouped by customer.
To find those reports, click the Reports tab on the left and search using the search bar at the upper right-hand side.
As you've explained, these reports aren't going to display the Description or item numbers. I know how important this would be for your workflow, and I think it would be a great addition to the product. Hello,
Greetings from Toronto
I can't seem to find a report that lists customers (from a specific period) that includes ALL their contact information (address and email)
Please help
Thanks
Troy
Hi Troy,
It's nice to hear from you over in Toronto. I hope you're getting some nice weather. QuickBooks Online has many reports, and the customer contact list is one of them. I can fill you in on the date options for this list.
You can add columns for the date they were created or last modified, and you can filter the customer list by these date options as well. I can see how being able to choose specific dates would be a great addition to the program. If you'd like our terrific product development team to consider this for future updates, I invite you to provide feedback.
You can share your feedback in-product by following these easy steps:
