How do i export our chart of accounts

Hello,

QuickBooks Online stocks you with a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate Chart of Accounts for you to organize your books with. I know how important it is to stay in-tune with your business finances. I'll explain what you can export from QuickBooks Online.

You can save a PDF copy, or print your Chart of Accounts, by clicking the small printer icon above the CoA. To find the CoA, click the Accounting tab on the left navigation menu.

You can export your General Ledger by clicking the Gear icon > Export. At this time, the option to export the entire CoA isn't available. I know how handy that would be, so I'd be happy to pass on your feedback about this to our product development team for review.

If you'd like to submit this feedback as well, click the Gear icon > Feedback. We're always looking for new ways to improve the product to make running your business even easier.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please reach out to our tech support team

Have a great day.

Utilize the trial period of these migration tools (i.e exporter for QBO and importer for QBO)

I do not have an option to export - I can edit, Print or go to settings.  Do you know if that option moved?

How do i export our chart of accounts

Hello rkfaith,

Thanks for joining the thread! It's important to be able to export your Chart of Accounts successfully. It sounds like you've navigated to the Chart of Accounts screen already. I can help walk you through the rest of the process.

The export option is available within the Run Report screen, not on the Chart of Accounts screen. You'll find the Run Report button for the Chart of Accounts at the top right next to the green New button. They're up above the three buttons that you mentioned (edit, print and settings). After selecting Run Report, you'll then see a report listing the Chart of Accounts and their account types and balances. Above it you'll find the four icons mentioned by Chick_Balance. Select export and you can then export your chart of accounts to excel or PDF format.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

How do i export our chart of accounts

Hi zalak,

Importing your own Chart of Accounts is one way to individualize your QuickBooks Online account. One of the great things about this program is that it can be customized to fit you and your business. It sounds like you've had a wrench thrown into your import. I want you to get the support you deserve, and I have some ideas about the issue you are having.

When you try to import your chart of accounts, be sure that you've followed the steps in this article; Import your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online. This article explains the columns needed and how to map the fields. A couple of things to keep in mind. Check that your data doesn't contain any invalid characters. The other is the formatting in your excel file. When you exported your Chart of Accounts, the company name would've been placed at the top of the sheet. When importing spreadsheets into QuickBooks Online, the top row must be the column headers as this is where QuickBooks will be looking for the Names of the field for mapping.

You may need to clear your cache and cookies if these have not resolved your error. I can provide you with the internet browser troubleshooting steps:

It may be necessary to log out/in to your QuickBooks account between the steps, and you can check to see if the issue has been resolved.

If you continue to get the error, reach back out, and we can dig a little deeper. Have an amazing day!

REALLY can't export a chart of accounts? My god, I find a new reason everyday to leave Intuit. They are really slipping. They can't let you do basic functions let alone keep up with newer technology.

It's there: Chart of Accounts / Run report / export icon (left of the gear icon) / Export to Excel

I wish there was CSV too, but oh well, I'll automate the conversion to CSV.

Hi there dfaure,

I can see that being able to export the chart of accounts to other formats than Excel would be a feature that you'd like to see available in QuickBooks Online. I recommend you leave feedback in the system for the developers by clicking on the Gear Icon, then Feedback. The comments made in that section are taken into consideration when designing new features for future updates of QuickBooks Online.
