Hi there,
You've reached the right place for help. I'd be happy to help with creating a yearly comparison report in QBO.
Based on what you've described, I recommend running a Profit and Loss report. To do this, click Reports from the left menu > search for the Profit and Loss report. Once you're on the report page, filter enter the dates you're looking for in the filter box. From here, click Customize > navigate to Rows/Columns and change the Columns to Year. After doing this, click Run report and you'll be able to see the info you're looking for.
I've provided a screenshot below for visual reference:
Give this a try and if you're still having issues, I recommend contacting our support team using this link.
I know I can do that, but I like the graph showing there year with the simplicity of the snapshot report. Profit and loss is ok but nowhere near as quick and easy to see unless I'm missing something.
Thanks for explaining further what you're looking for, strawberryhf. In your original question you mentioned that you're running the Business Snapshot Report. While you can review this report for various time-frames, such as Last Year, or This Year To-Date, at this time you're unable to view both of them simultaneously. I recommend printing both of them out so you can compare them side-by-side if that's your goal. You can do this in just a few clicks, by selecting the small printer icon in the upper right-hand side of the report.
I'd be happy to pass your feedback along regarding this report and it's capabilities. We're always looking for new and fresh ways to improve our product.
Cheers.
This is helpful. Upon closer examination it the income and expense comparison graphs that I like particularly and I can't see how to change any dates on those. I'm assuming the dates are fixed.
The Income and Expense comparison graphs can be filtered to show monthly or quarterly data, rather than yearly. You can toggle between the two options by clicking the drop-down menu at the top left side of the graph.
I think this person is asking whether or not there is a way to see that simple income and expense comparison for years farther back than last year. e.g. for 2017 or 2018. I agree that would be helpful!
I 've been following this because I have the same question. The snapshot screen shows several graphs. As of January 1st 2021 it only shows 2020 and 2021. Is it a way to include year 2019? or at least to be able to see years 2019 and 2020 as if it was December 31st. 2020?? Is my question clear enough?
Hi cped, it's important to me that you can get a graphical display that meets your business needs. The Business snapshot automatically features the present and previous years for comparison, and there's no setting to edit those. You can explore adding a new chart in your Business performance centre where you can customize a graph to cover last year and choose the year before for comparison. Here's how
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
I'm not finding the Performance center under the Reports tab. Is it only available in certain countries regions or certain subscriptions? I'm in Canada.
Thanks for letting me know that you're having difficulty finding the Business Performance centre within your QuickBooks Online account, @strawberryhf. This is because the Business Performance centre is a feature available only within QuickBooks Online Accountant. If you're using either QuickBooks Online SimpleStart, Essentials, or Plus you won't have access to it. The Business Snapshot report that's available within the reports tab is only capable of showing data for This Year-to-date, Last Month, Last Quarter, and Last Year. If you need to view data for a wider date range, checking out the other reports available in the Reports centre is your best bet. If you share what type of data you're looking to view I'd be happy to suggest some reports that you'll find helpful.
Since I know that the option to view an extended date range or additional years within the Business Snapshot report would be helpful for you and your business, I suggest navigating to the Gear icon then using the Feedback option to let our product development team know. They love hearing from QBO users like you and take your suggestions into consideration when implementing new features and improving existing ones. I'll be sure to pass this along on my end as well. Have a great day!
