Hi there,
Using QuickBooks reports is a great way to see how your business is doing. I'll be glad to show you how to run a report which shows you any expenses which don't have a projects associated with them.
There are various expense reports which you can view and I'll list them below:
Cheque Detail - The cheque you've written, with the date, payee, and amount.
Expenses by Vendor Summary - Your total expenses for each vendor.
Open Purchase Order List - Your open purchase orders, grouped by vendor.
Open Purchase Order Detail - Your open purchase orders, grouped by item and/or account. Includes the total, received, and balance quantities and amounts.
Purchases by Class Detail - Your purchases, grouped by class.
Purchases by Product/Service Detail - Your purchases, grouped by product or service.
Purchases by Vendor Detail - Your purchases, grouped by vendor.
Transaction List by Vendor - Your transactions, grouped by vendor.
Once you run any of these reports, you can filter them to your liking by following these steps:
1. Click Reports.
2. Select the report.
3. Click Customize.
4. Click the Filter drop-down menu.
5. Apply your filters, then click Run report.
Give this a try and if you have questions, I recommend contacting our support team using this link.
I'm looking for the same thing. Is there an answer for this yet?
Hi eknelsongroup,
Allow me to clarify this for you. QuickBooks Online enables you to customize reports so you can focus on details that are important to you. Any report in the program that has a customer filter will allow you to select customers without projects and hence display the report project free. For the Check detail report and Expenses by Vendor Summary report, for example, the filter section contains a Name group and Customer group respectively to filter out projects. Simply follow the steps shared above by James to apply the necessary filters for your report. If there's a specific expense report you want that doesn't have an appropriate filter to complete your task, feel free to submit feedback directly to our engineers. We are always looking for new ideas to innovate the product, and your opinion helps a lot with that.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything else. I'm here to help!
