Hi there, Tim.

 

The reason you cannot add taxes to your Products & Services items in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is that either your customers or the items might not be taxable.

 

To check whether your customers and items are taxable, follow the steps below:

 

For Customer Tax settings:

 

  1. Navigate to All Apps and select Customer Hub, then choose Customers.
  2. Pick the specific customer and click Edit.
  3. Scroll down to the Taxes section to check if taxes have been added.ss2.png


For Items Tax Settings:

 

  1. Go to Sales menu and select Products and Services.
  2. Locate the item in question and click Edit on the item.
  3. Scroll to the Sales Tax Category section.
  4. Ensure that the item is assigned a taxable category.ss1.png

 

By verifying these settings, you can determine why taxes are not being added to your Products & Services items in QBO. Please adjust the settings as needed to enable tax application.

 

If both are taxable, and yet your taxes are still not added in the items, we can perform a troubleshooting steps to determine if the issue is related to the browser you're using.
