Can I import total sales each day?

Hi there,  I'm new to quickbooks and I already have a system that keeps track of our clients and billing and I would like to take the totals from that and import it each day as our sales.  So Daycare Sales, Classes Sales, Retail Sales etc.

I have linked up my accounts so the sales will be put in the next day but they don't always match up as clients put things on account.

Suggestions?

QBSE is a stand alone product and no migration path yet. I have yet to find any apps supporting it. Consider using QBO to let you have many options with 3rd party apps.

If your current sales system (POS? ) does not support QBO yet, you may utilize the importer tool.

Hope it helps.

Can I import total sales each day?

Can’t I just add a transaction for the day? Why do I need to pay for another 3rd party app to import 4-5 transaction totals that I need?

Can I import total sales each day?

Hello MelissaMac16,

I want to make sure you're only paying for the services you need. I know many businesses have a strict budget and must be mindful of the services they're using to help manage their books. Fiat Lux's suggestion of connecting to a third party app to help import transactions into QuickBooks Online can be a great resource for business owners, but it isn't necessary. It's up to you to go with what you'd like, including the option of manually entering daily sales.

Keep in mind, that's a QuickBooks Online article and QuickBooks Self-Employed works differently than Online does. For instance, QuickBooks Self-Employed doesn't have the option set up accounts and such the way the Online article instructs.

An option you can consider for recording daily sales in QuickBooks Self-Employed is to use the Transactions section and select Business income as the category. Here are the steps you can take while logged into a browser.

  1. Select the Transactions tab.
  2. Choose Add transaction.
  3. Enter something like Daily Sales into the Transaction field.
  4. Enter the amount.
  5. Click Select a category.
  6. Choose Business income.
  7. Enter Notes and other details as necessary.
  8. Click Save when done.

Since you're choosing Business income as the category, the program will automatically know to categorize it as such. If you'd like to separate your transaction totals, simply enter different transactions for each one.

For help with these steps or to speak with a dedicated QuickBooks Self-Employed agent, check out the options in the Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support article.

All the best to you!
