The function you've described above isn't available. I can see the benefit of having the option to check if the estimate has been opened by a potential customer and I encourage you to send feedback about this to our engineers. You can send feedback by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. I recommend searching for a third-party data app that can offer more estimate customization options. You can search for apps on our app store www.apps.com. In the meantime, you can check the status of the estimate by opening it in QuickBooks and verifying the status as Pending, Accepted, Closed, and Rejected.

Hi and thanks for the message back; that’s unfortunate with the estimates viewing.
Another question I have: Is there a way to send an invoice and not have it show up as the “body” in an email along with the PDF? I just want the invoice sent and the email portion to have a pdf attached with nothing but my message in the body. As opposed to old html invoice for pages in the body of the email and then a pdf as well, which actually looks professional.

No worries. QuickBooks makes it easy for you to customize how your invoice looks and how it's sent. In order to manage this, click on the Gear icon > Custom Form Styles > click open the invoice template in question > navigate to the Emails tab > from here you can make the necessary adjustments.
