Thanks for the quick reply pondball,
That sounds like a good way to enter the name. If you run into any more issues or have any more questions, feel free to reach out here. I'm here to help.
Hi there pondball,
Making sure you receive your customers' payments is an important part of running your business. QuickBooks Online is a great tool to help manage both your invoicing as well as your accounting in a single program. I can provide you some assistance.
In order to include the middle initial while adding a payment, add the middle initial after a space beside the first name. Make sure to include just the letter and no special characters like a period. If after trying this you still receive an error, I recommend getting in touch with our Merchant services team. They'll be able to assist you with error messages received when trying to process payments in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to ask any other questions here.
Thanks Alex
I've passed that info on to the customer for them to hav a go at.
They have also informed me that they précised their first name with Mr so I am assuming it would then be input as MR PETE B in the first name box then their last name in the last name box.
They were concerned about a double charge but I can't see that happening as I don't believe the first charge would have made it to the final Pay button.
Thanks for the quick reply pondball,

Entering as all caps worked along with entering the Mr name and initial all in the First Name field!
Happy campers all around.
He did suggest there be some note to customers however about entering in all caps so that the transaction can go through. He hasn't needed to do that before, thus the struggle this time.
Hi pondball,
I'm glad to hear that the payment worked. I can see how a notice like that could be of help when you're receiving payments from your customers. If you'd like to see this possibly added to QuickBooks Online in the future, you can leave feedback by clicking on the Gear Icon, then Feedback. Comments made in this section are taken into consideration when the developers design new features for QuickBooks Online.
