Is there a report that will show all invoices, expenses and bills for a customer, regardless of whether the money has been received or the bill paid.

Hi there,

QuickBooks Online is equipped with tons of different reports that you can use to get a snapshot of your business health. Customer reports are useful in seeing the profit and loss for certain clients, and seeing which transactions for the customer are still unpaid. I'll help explain your options in further detail.

There's two different customer reports that you'll need to run in order to see all the transactions for each client. At this time, there's no report that will combine both paid and unpaid invoices.

To see a list of transactions for each customer, you can try running the Transaction List by Customer Report. This report shows your transactions (income and expenses), grouped by customer. This report will only show completed transactions, and excludes things like open invoices or unpaid expenses.

To see a list of your open invoices, you can run the Open Invoices Report. This report will show you unpaid invoices and statement charges, with totals for each customer.

You also mention unpaid bills in your question above. For these, run the Unpaid Bills Report. This report will show your unpaid bills, with due dates and days past due.

To find these reports, simply click the Reports tab on the left navigation menu, then search for these reports in the search bar.

I hope this helps you reach your goal today. I think your suggestion of a combined report to show complete as well as incomplete transactions is a great idea. I'd encourage you to submit feedback about this by clicking the Gear icon > Feedback. I'll pass on your thoughts to my team as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a great weekend.

Is there a report that will show all invoices, expenses and bills for a customer, regardless of whether the money has been received or the bill paid.

Our business is doing small renovations/repairs on homes.  We don't bill an expense directly to the customer as there is an agreed upon estimate that has been approved that is ultimately invoiced to the customer.  In order to know if our estimates are accurate and will result in some profit, I need to know what the expenses are for the project, how much is outstanding(usually tracked as bills) and ultimately what the invoice amount is, if the job has been completed.  As we are running multiple projects at once it is important for me to be able to keep track of all of that.

I had already search through all of the reports.

The transactions list by customer doesn't show any of the expenses linked to the customer.
Is there another report that will display the expenses that have been paid

On the unpaid bills report, is there a way to show the customer name for the bill.  I have not been able to find a way to add the customer or project the bill is linked to.  This report would be very useful if it showed the customer.

The report I have used the most is the profit and loss by customer, but it doesn't include the unpaid bills.  With the number of projects that we have going the format of this report makes it difficult to read.

Thank you for any help

Hi there. based on what you've described, it sounds like our Projects feature will be the perfect fit for your business. The Projects feature helps you stay organized and track all the moving parts. You can add project income and expenses, tag old transactions to new projects, and run project-specific reports from a single dashboard. This makes it easy to manage your work and see your progress.

Here’s how to set up Projects. Once you’re set up, learn how to use the project cost and profitability tools to do “job costing. This is available for QuickBooks Online Plus and Accountant.

For more info on how to turn on this feature, check out this helpful article from our Community: Set up and use the Projects feature. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi bily222.

Being able to find the right report for your needs is a crucial step in using QuickBooks Online to help you save time. I'd be happy to go over how to access this information.

As my colleagues have mentioned you'd need to use two different reports to pull up all invoices, expenses and bills for a customer. If you wish to have all this information in one place I recommend exporting the information to Excel by following this article.

If this is a report that you wish to have included in QuickBooks Online I suggest sending feedback to our development team by following these steps:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Once the development team receives the feedback they'll look into ways to possibly add it in the future.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
