Is there a way to create an invoice and not have QBO import both the Name and Company Name?

I have the display set to Company Name, but when I create an invoice, it pulls over the Name and Company name, so I have to delete the name each time. Or do I just put their name in the notes instead of the Name field?

Hi there Jason-orme1973-g,

I can provide some more information about customer profiles. In order for the customer name to not appear in the Ship to and Bill to boxes by default, you'd need to remove it from the first and last name section of their customer profile. You can do so by going to the Sales tab, then Customers. Click on a customer, then once their account is opened click on Edit to modify their details and remove the first and last name. In order to still keep the name within your customer profile, you could add it in the notes section so it won't appear in the invoice's Bill to and Ship to boxes.

Hello Jason,

Welcome to Community!  It's essential that your company name is showing correctly on your forms.  QuickBooks Online has the versatility you need in situations like this.  I'll be happy to assist, so you can reach your QuickBooks goals:

Here's how to edit the company name on your invoice;

1. Go to Settings ⚙ in the top right of your QuickBooks dashboard

2. Select Custom form styles

3. Choose Edit in the Action column beside your default form

4. Open the Content tab and then the Edit ✎ for the top section

5. Enter/edit the appropriate Business name here.

6. When finished hit Done to save and you're all set!

I encourage you to check out this helpful article that shows you how to: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you have other questions, I'll be here in case you need anything else.

Is there a way to create an invoice and not have QBO import both the Name and Company Name?

Thank you, but I need to be more clear.

In the client card, there is a spot for their name and the company name. You can then select the customer display name to be either one of those. I have it set to the company name. When you create an invoice for that customer, it puts the name, company name and address in the 'ship to' and 'bill to' boxes on the invoice. I don't want the name to appear there, just the company name and address.

The work around is to either delete the name each time, or put the customers name in the notes instead of in the name box. Is there a way to not have to do that?

Thanks again.

I can’t get my company name to appear on the invoice when I print them out. It’s on the template, but after I click “done” it disappears.  If I click a different template it appears again, but disappears after clicking “done”

Hey there, Cvicars.

Can you tell me if you get the same results if you try in a private browser. Sometimes browsing data can accumulate on your system and prevent the software from doing what it is supposed to do. Here are some shortcuts you can try depending on the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Ill be on standby!
