My customer received an invoice but doesn't have the option to click on Review and Pay

Hi there,

QuickBooks Payments is an awesome service to take advantage of for your small business. The easiest way to receive payments from your customers is directly through the invoice. I'll help shed some light on what may be happening here.

If you've set up a Payments account and your customer isn't seeing the option to Pay Now, it's simply because you forgot to check off the box for Online Payments before sending your invoice to them. This will be located at the upper right side of your invoice creation screen, next to the logo for the 4 accepted credit cards. Checking off this box means your customers will be able to pay online.

If you haven't activated a Payments account yet, here's an article that will explain that process: QuickBooks Online Payments overview.

Simple as that! If you have any additional questions or if you need assistance signing up for Payments, please don't hesitate to reach out to our tech support team.

Cheers.

My customer received an invoice but doesn't have the option to click on Review and Pay

Hi,

I have the Option for my customers to pay by Credit Card. Most of my customers are able to pay this way. However, for some reason, on some of my customers' invoices, the Credit Card payment option does not "highlight" to enable me to click on this option for them. As some of these customers are in US, and we are based in Canada, is this the reason? I have received credit card payments from these customers before, but now it doesn't seem to allow me to offer this payment option anymore.

Thanks,

Dawn

My customer received an invoice but doesn't have the option to click on Review and Pay

Hi Dawn,

I appreciate you taking a moment to share details about your setup and customers in QuickBooks Online and for describing what you're seeing when trying to use QuickBooks Payments. I can absolutely go over how this feature works and why the option to pay by credit card is available for certain customers, but not others.

QuickBooks Payments works with Canadian funds exclusively, meaning that the feature will only be available for customers set up with Canadian currency and that it'll only work with Canadian Visa, Mastercard, or Discover cards. For customers with other currencies, such as US, you won't be able to check off the option for them to pay by credit card.

There was previously an error in our system which caused some merchants to be able to process payments for their US customers, but that has since been resolved. This is likely why you were able to work with Payments and foreign currency customers previously, but cannot now.

To work with customers in other currencies, I recommend researching other payment processing services. Some even have apps that can connect with QuickBooks Online to bring in your transaction information from that service to your books. You can check out the Apps tab in QuickBooks, using keywords like "payments," during your search.

For your reference, here are a few useful documents about QuickBooks Payments.

Feel free to share your thoughts and feedback about the Payments feature for QuickBooks Online Canada by following the steps in this article: How do I submit feedback? This helps our product development team learn the ways they can enhance the software.
