Why can't I eliminate the preInvoice # on top left corner of Invoice

I'll help you sort this out. Just so we're on the same page, can you clarify what you mean by a pre-invoice number? 

on the upper left corner of the Invoice template there is a time clock and preprinted Invoice no. 1485  I use my own invoice numbers and want to erase this from the template ...how?

The upper left corner of Invoice template displays Invoice no. 1485 - this is not in sequence with my numbers and I need to eliminate it from the template to avoid confusion.  ow do I accomplish this???

I see what you're saying now, Agnes.

To remove the invoice number field from your template, you can simply remove the number (e.g. 1485) from the box, and leave the field blank. You also have the option to remove the field entirely by clicking the Gear icon > Account and Settings > Sales > toggle "Custom Transaction Numbers" setting to OFF.
