My GST report does not equal my Balance Sheet?

Hi @CCPH,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for contacting us here. QuickBooks is a flexible program that helps you to manage your accounting with ease. I'll be glad to share more information so you're on the right track with your work.

It sounds like there might be some discrepancies in how GST transactions are recorded or categorized. Here are a few steps to help you identify and fix the issue:

  • Review Transactions: Go to the Taxes menu on the left, then click Sales Tax at the top. Check the transactions included in your GST report to ensure they are correctly recorded.
  • Check Categorization: Ensure that all GST-related transactions are categorized correctly. Sometimes, expenses or income might be categorized under different accounts, causing discrepancies.
  • Reconcile Accounts: Make sure that your accounts are reconciled properly. Any unreconciled transactions can cause differences between reports.
  • Run Detailed Reports: Run detailed GST reports and compare them with your balance sheet to identify any specific transactions that might be causing the discrepancy.
