Hello alrawi,

I like your attention to detail when it comes to sales tax filing, and I know there are a number of reasons that you might want to see that breakdown of lines 90 and 91 while working with your data. I can go over how QuickBooks Online works with this information so you can decide the best way to move forward with filing your HST/GST.

When you use QuickBooks Online's sales tax module, you can have confidence that your figures are reporting correctly. The sales tax filing uses line 101 rather than a breakdown of lines 90 and 91, and there isn't a way to separate them out on the filing screen. What you can consider in this case is running a sales tax report through the Reports tab to see the details you're looking for on those lines.

For instance, the GST/HST Detail Report shows you each transaction that goes into making up the lines on your sales tax filing. You can use those details to determine which transactions apply to 90 and 91 as needed. Or you can use the Taxable Sales Summary report, which shows you the sales tax codes making up your filing. Feel free to explore the other reports in the Sales tax sub-section of the Reports page to see if maybe there's another option that will work better.

If you're not quite comfortable working through this on your own, I recommend connecting with an accountant. Using the My Accountant tab, you can use the email field to invite your accountant as a user to your account or use the Find a pro to help button to research our database of QuickBooks-certified professionals.

I also invite you to leave feedback about the options available for sales tax filing in QuickBooks Online by following these steps: How do I submit feedback?

Enjoy your week!

Please consider adding the Line 91 split to the QBO HST report. For many of my clients it is highly important to report Line 91 amounts separately from Line 90 when filing with CRA. It's so much cleaner to have one report that shows everything my clients need for their HST filings. The QBO software has the ability to include this breakdown in the HST report, so it's unfortunate you choose not to include it, especially given QBO's competitors provide this reporting feature.

I second this motion - breaking down line 101 into lines 90 and 91 would be a great feature!!

Hi there royswoodpallets,

Thank you for reaching out about tax filing. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of tax on sales and expenses so you know the amount to file. I can provide some information about filing sales tax.

I can see that being able to include those two lines on the filing in QuickBooks Online would be a feature that you'd like to see the help you with the filing process. I recommend leaving feedback in the system by clicking on the Gear Icon, then Feedback. The comments made in that section are taken into consideration when designing new features for the software.
