Should QBO be including GST in T5018? No they shouldn't, but is there a box I can tick somewhere to fix this?

Most people just file their T5018 and don't even worry about it. When challenged on the amount, I had to admit that GST was included by QBO. Shouldn't Intuit fix this if I can't turn off the GST on T5018's?

You'll need to ensure that the Do not track payments for taxes option is clicked for your suppliers, just4lori. Let me outline the steps so you can accurately manage the forms.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the T5018 form is primarily for reporting the total amount paid to contractors throughout the year, excluding any GST or other taxes. You can check their profile to make sure that the option for Do not track payments for taxes is selected so that it doesn’t keep record of them.

You may also consult your accountant or CRA if you're not sure if a subcontractor should receive a T4A or T5018 form.

To review suppliers information, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu and select Suppliers.
  2. Choose the suppliers and click Edit.

  3. Navigate to the Additional info section. Make sure to click the Do not track payments for taxes.
  4. Click Save.

Thank you for your response.  If I choose Do not track payment for taxes, then it unchecks T5018 slip.

I need the T5018 slip ticked for running those tax slips do I not?

Please let me know if I can run T5018's on account subcontracts, without having T5018 ticked.

Thank you!

You will need to have the T5018 box checked in order to run the T5018 slips for your subcontractors, just4lori. This is important for ensuring that those slips are generated correctly.

On the other hand, if you need to report the amounts accurately without GST included, you may have to manually adjust the values after generating the reports or consult with your accountant or the CRA to explore the best practices for your specific situation.
