Hi pacooke,
Welcome to Community! Having mismatched information associated with your sales tax can be quite concerning. QuickBooks Online provides the resources you need, to remain on track with your work. I would be glad to help!
To get started, I suggest reviewing the transactions included in GST your report. Here's how:
1. Open Taxes from the left menu, then select Sales Tax
2. In the Action column click on the ▼ dropdown arrow beside Prepare return
3. Select View summary
4. Click on the amount under the Total column for Line 101 Sales and other revenue
This will populate a detailed report of all transactions for line 101 on the return.
5. Compare this report with your income reports to see which transactions are causing the unexpected outcome
In addition, I recommend reviewing the Transactions without sales tax report. To access it, follow these steps:
1. On the Sales Tax page, click the ▼ dropdown menu to View Reports
2. Choose Transactions without sales tax
3. Adjust the Date range for the report and click Run report.
This will show a list of all transactions within the desired date range, that are missing a sales tax code or are marked Out of Scope. Any transactions marked as Out of Scope, won't populate the income on your tax report. For this reason, you may want to edit it to Zero-Rated or Exempt, for the best possible outcome.
