Hello derek@autobico,
Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks is designed to help you streamline your work. I'll be glad to show you how to adjust the tax code so you can have the rate you'd like to use.
Before adjusting the tax rate, here are some important point to take note of:
- When you edit a sales tax rate you use on templates, you need to select it again. Otherwise, it won’t apply any sales tax rate.
- Reports show the data for both rates (before and after) if there are transactions for both rates in a particular period.
Here's how to edit the tax rate in QuickBooks:
- Go to Taxes and select Sales tax
- In the top right-hand corner, select Manage sales tax.
- In the Tax agencies table, choose the rate you want to change, and select Edit rate under Make inactive dropdown.
- In the Edit sales tax rate window, adjsut the rate. You can also change the name if you like.
- Set the Effective date, if required, this will be the date from which the rate change will take effect.
- Select Save.
- Select Make inactive or Make active beside the tax rate you want to make inactive or active.
Let me know if this info helps. I'll be a message away in case you need additional help.
