Hello cge403 and welcome to the Community!

Congratulations on opening a new branch of your business. That's an exciting accomplishment and I'm so glad to hear that you're going to continue using QuickBooks - we appreciate dedicated users like you so much. I'm happy to explain how you can get set up using QuickBooks Online for the American branch of your company.

You have two options here. The first is to sign up for a subscription with the American version of QuickBooks Online. You can check out the wbesite here, and view the Plans & Pricing to determine which version is right for your business. You're also welcome to reach out in the American version of the Community for support by changing the Canada flag that appears in the top right to an American flag.

If you'd prefer to get set up with another Canadian subscription, you'll have to go with QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus, which you can subscribe to on our Canadian Plans & Pricing page. You'll need one of these two because you'll need the Multicurrency feature, which is only available in these versions.Once subscribed, you'll want to follow the steps below to set-up multicurrency, ensuring that you set your home currency to USD if that's the currency you'll be using to invoice customers and pay supplier bills.

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon, then choose Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the tab for Advanced.
  3. Use the Edit pencil to make changes in the Currency section.
  4. Choose your Home Currency. Set this to USD if you won't be using Canadian dollars for this branch of your company at all.
  5. Check the box for Multicurrency and confirm that you understand you won't be able to undo this feature.
  6. Hit Save and close to save your changes.

From there you'll be able to set up new customers and assign currencies to them, and invoice them in the currency specified in their customer profile. There are a ton of awesome ways that you can use the Multicurrency feature to make your life a little easier, so check out this article to learn more: About Multicurrency

Let me know if there's more I can do to help. It's what I'm here for!

@cge403

You should open a new QBO US version. You may use the same email address to manage multiple QBO accounts.
