Does anyone know when QBO Payroll will allow people to enter the relevant codes related to the Canadian Dental Benefit Plan (CDBP)?
Thanks
Melissa

Employers and pension plan administrators: Changes coming to T4/T4A reporting - Canada.ca
• T4 - BOX 45 Employer-offered dental benefits
• T4A - BOX 015 Payer-offered dental benefits
CODE 1 - The employee/subcontractor is not eligible to access any dental care insurance, or coverage of dental services of any kind.
CODE 2 - Payee Only
CODE 3 - Payee, spouse and dependent children
CODE 4 - Payee and their spouse
CODE 5 - Payee and their dependent children
For example:
• You do not offer any dental benefits to your employees/payees - everyone will be Code 1.
• You offer dental benefits and spouses are eligible - everyone will be Code 4, even if they do not have spouses, as it is just about what can be accessed.
This reporting requirement will be required beginning with the 2023 tax year reporting cycle and will continue to be required on an annual basis.

Good evening, Melissa HK.
I appreciate you turning to the Community for support. I'd be happy to shed some light on the Canadian Dental Benefit Plan.
QuickBooks Online will automatically update the required fields for the Dental Benefit, in keeping aligned with government guidelines. The update will also include the required codes, so you can select the appropriate one for your employees. The release date should be mid to late December, and will include the T4 form updates. The update will be applied to all QuickBooks products
Feel free to reach back out here if you have any other questions.

HI There -
Is this update still on track for mid-to-late December 2023 or will it be into January?
Thank you.
Good evening, AJ2013.
Thanks for chiming in on this thread. The update will be automatically be applied to the required fields. However, the new T4 and T4A wont be available until the first of January. I hope this helps!
Is there any way to pull a report for all employees showing the dental benefit code? I do not see an option to add it.
Hey Kimimrie. I don't know if there is a report, but if you enter the codes and then preview your 2023 T4s, you will see the codes on each T4 there.
Hi there kimimrie,
Thanks for reaching out about your employees. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you pay your employees for the time they've worked for your company. I can provide some information about the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
In the reports located in QuickBooks Online, there isn't a report showing the Dental plan code associated with each of your employees. To see the dental code for each employee, you'll need to so individually by following the steps under the QuickBooks Online Payroll heading of this article. I can see that having a report showing all the employee's dental code at once would be a feature that you'd like to see in QuickBooks Online Payroll. I recommend leaving feedback in the system by clicking on the Gear icon, then Feedback. The comments made in that section are taken into consideration when designing new features for QuickBooks Online.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
Is there a way to bulk edit the dental benefit codes for multiple employees at once? Individually going through each employees profile will be extremely time consuming.
Hello 1133,
Having the ability to batch edit your employee's with the new Dental Benefit codes, would be a valuable time saver! I am certain that other QuickBooks Online Payroll customers would benefit from this as well. However, with the Dental Benefit being a new addition to payroll, the ability to batch edit isn't available at this time. Please don't hesitate to submit a suggestion to the Development Team. Recommendations are essential in assisting with future updates and feature enhancements, to improve your overall customer experience in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
Let us know is you have any other areas of concern. We would be glad to help!
I have updated the 2024 payroll at January 1st and, there is no box 45 option on the payroll item list. When will this be available? I want to do T4s for everyone.
Hey there, Sharon.

With that being said, If you've done the update but are still not seeing the option for box 45, I recommend reaching out to the support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to verify your account details in a secure setting, as well as view your screen to see why this may be happening. You can reach out the them by following one of these methods:
Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: select (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > then hit Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

Quickbooks payroll have created another nightmare with their change to processing T4's. According to Revenue Canada we only have to complete the above mentioned boxes "enter the appropriate code using box 45 if you provided access to any dental care insurance or for coverage of dental services of any kind to an employee." so why has Quickbooks set up the T4 processing to require we go into each individual employee and enter a code. Further the notice that pops up says "This employee is missing the following information required to submit state and federal tax forms." Last time I checked we have NO STATES in Canada, and our T4's are issued to Revenue Canada. We are paying more for what is supposed to be a good payroll system, yet now it is costing us more time as well. Please explain why you would put in a requirement that is not necessary. It is an individual entry on an employee that might be receiving these benefits.
Hi OurFarm,
Thanks for joining us here. QuickBooks products have been updated and aligned with the Dental Care Benefit, in keeping with the CRA guidelines. As noted on the CRA website;
"For calendar year 2023 and after, it is mandatory to indicate whether the employee or any of their family members were eligible, on December 31 of that year, to access any dental care insurance, or coverage of dental services of any kind, that you offered."
To ensure all T4 slips are accurate in meeting with these guidelines, it's essential that a code is entered for each employee based on the following criteria;
Code:
1-Not eligible to access any dental care insurance, or coverage of dental services of any kind
2-Payee only
3-Payee, spouse and dependent children
4-Payee and their spouse
5-Payee and their dependent children
Please don't hesitate to submit any suggestions you may have, to our Development Team, by going to Settings ⚙, then Feedback. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit.

I don't know if this is what you're wondering?
Employee -> Edit Employee -> Payroll Info -> The 'Employer OFfered Dental Benifits' that section gives you the codes to use. It will then populate to the T4 forms.
It isn't a 'Payroll item list ' it is only a code box.
