This doesn't work on Quickbooks Desktop
Hello kokoli84,
It's important to me that you're able to find the T4 information for your employees in your QuickBooks Desktop company file. I'm happy to clarify the steps for that version of the program since, as you've noted, it's operates differently than QuickBooks Online.
There are a couple ways to access the T4s in QuickBooks Desktop. Luckily, both are simple and I'll outline each of them so you can choose whichever you prefer.
Way number 2 goes like this.
Once you've got the T4 window open, regardless of which method you're using to get there, you can choose from the Year drop-down menu to see the forms for that period. The following article goes over these forms and their related processes in more detail: T4 and Relevé-1 forms

This will let you see the T4 Slip, but how do you see archived T4 summary?
Hi flconcrete,
Welcome to the Community! It's important to me that you're able to access the information you need. To clarify, are you trying to view the archived T4 summary within QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop?
Quickbooks Desktop Pro
Hi there @flconcrete and thanks for joining in on this thread to learn more about viewing prior year's T4 Summaries. You can access a T4 Summary report by navigating to the Reports menu, choosing Employees & Payroll, then selecting the T4 Summary. With this report you'll only have the option to see a summary from This Calendar Year or Last Calendar Year. Since I know viewing a T4 Summary from prior years is sometimes necessary, I want to encourage you to submit feedback on this. Navigate to the Help menu, then choose to Submit Feedback Online. These messages are sent to our product development team who considers them when implementing new updates and making product improvements. Don't hesitate to reach out again if there's something else I can do to help. Have a great weekend!
That this report is not available for prior years is a complete nuisance. I am in the exact same situation as the OP; a client needs the summary for an external audit and the CRA is currently offline for this information. For the OP: my suggestion is you run the PD7A summary report for the calendar year. It is the closest proxy to the T4 Summary report.
