It looks like I will have to buy quickbooks 2016. Are you sure this migration path will work??
Hello Doc14,
Thanks for taking the time to connect with us here. QuickBooks enables you to manage your accounting with ease and I'll be glad to help share info so you're on the right path.
QuickBooks simplifies the way you back up your data. I encourage you to check out this article that shows you how to: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file. Once you've backed up your data, you can reference the following article as it shows you how to: Restore a backup of your company file. In case you're having issues with finding the back up, here's a helpful article that shows you how to: Locate Backups and Company Data Files.
Let me know if this info helps. I'll be one message away in case you have other questions. Otherwise, I wish you a great rest of the week.
If you are unable to restore the backup file directly on QBD 2021, you may need to install the trial version for QBD 2016 as the stepping stone.

You don't need to buy the license. Contact me in private and we can share the trial version for it.
