Hello QB community,
We have an employee who moved from a province to another one, QB suggested to create a new profile for the new province, but is there a way to keep the employee original profile and issue 2 different T4s?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Hi there,
Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. It's important you're able to change an employee's address and I'll be glad to show you how you can do this. QuickBooks offers an easy-to-navigate platform that makes it simple to make changes to your account.
You can update the employees address using these steps:
Making this change will affect the employees taxes since they're now in a different province. The tax calculations are applied automatically after making the address change. Give this is a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be on standby.
Hello James,
my question is about how to issue 2 different T4's for an employee that moved from a province to another province while keeping the original employee profile. It's not about updating the employee address!
Regards,
I see what you're saying. I highly recommend contacting an accountant for expert advice on what the best route would be when handling multiple provinces. However, if you'd like to issue a T4 from another province, you'll have to set up another employee profile. Here's an article that shows you how. Let me know if this info helps. I'll be here.
hello James,
The help article you sent is for QB Online, and this issue is software related not accounting related.
Regards,
My mistake. I encourage you to check out the right article using this link here.
That is a dead link. Do you have an current link?
Hey there Lala63,
At this time, the option to create multiple T4's at once for an employee with different provinces isn't available in QuickBooks. I recommend leaving feedback by following the steps in this helpful guide. These comments are viewed and considered by our developers as they create new updates and features for QuickBooks.

Thanks for your reply. So, am I to understand that my client must now find a different payroll provider than QBO Payroll, as there is no way to have QBO handle this simple change?
Is there a work-around in QBO? Such as perhaps what was suggested above - to 'terminate' the employee and then set them up as a 'new' employee? Will having duplicate info in QBO confuse it, if so?
Hi Lala63,
You can terminate the current employee and create a new profile for them, with their updated address information. However, you'll need to add an identifier such as an *, at the end of the employee name. Otherwise you'll receive a notification that the employee already exists. Here's how to add an employee to QuickBooks Online Payroll. I hope this helps!
